PESCIA, FIRENZE

One of Italy's most promising artisans, Tommaso Cecchi de' Rossi derives inspiration from his agricultural studies.

It's his fascination for contemporary alchemy that transforms pure materials into wearable pieces through his personally developed wine-dyed treatments and hand-molding techniques.

Each Cecchi de Rossi piece evolves from Tommaso’s Tuscany studio. Handmade and inherently unique, products are crafted from select vegetable tanned leather and undergo the brand’s patented “Pellevino treatment,” coloring the materials with wine and other natural extracts.

From there, Cecchi de Rossi hand-sculpts his minimal designs on a wooden mold, creating structure and shapes without seams. Therefore, each piece is one-of-a-kind, and imperfections in the material are characteristic of the exceptional untreated leather.

After learning the trade at 14, Patrizia has dedicated her life’s work to producing entirely artisanal leather goods, made 100% by Italians using only local Italian materials.

An expert in her field, she’s developed personal relationships with Italy’s most famous tanneries from Santa Croce sull’Arno, and has collaborated with famed designers Massimo Rebecchi, Max Mara, and Marina Rinaldi.

With her own line, she keeps designs simple and clean, allowing for the quality of the product to speak for itself.

PALERMO, SICILY

A slight departure from her architecture work in Palermo, Barbara Benzi's handbag designs are a constant study of form, hand-made quality, and customization.

Born and raised in Sicily, Barbara draws inspiration from Sicilian architecture, which blends Mediterranean cultures. Her products’ names are informed by local mythological characters, towns, and words.

Her aesthetic is, of course, architectural, but feminine with the inclusion of rounded and soft shapes. Barbara carefully considers the preferences of her customer, offering the opportunity for self expression with every piece.

FUCECCHIO, FIRENZE

Founded in 1968 within the celebrated tanneries of Fucecchio, Ghibli has established international recognition as a specialist in luxury hand-woven leather techniques and python and exotic materials.

The family’s signature hand-paired intrecciato woven technique is immediately identifiable. Each strip of luxury leather is hand folded and doubled to make one single thread of the bag. This entails more time, more quality leather, and greater detail. Once woven, the textile is hand-sculpted over a custom-made wooden mold, creating a seamless shape.

With its exotic skins, Ghibli utilizes a special approach. Raw python and exotic leathers are shaped into a complete bag form, and then delicately hand-painted in-house to create a striking finished product. This yields a completely unique, custom piece, as no two paintings are the same.

With such extraordinary attention paid to each piece, it’s easy to understand why these made-to-order items require a 10-week delivery cycle.
